Help me find a reason for my friend not to pull out her hair?

My friend is always pulling out her hair -single strands one at a time] [esp. her split ends, by whole strands], and it bugs me sooo much. She also likes to do it becauses it makes her hair thinner. However, it grosses me out %26amp; there must be SOMETHING wrong with it!!!

help me give her solid [hopefully scientific] a reason to stop.

p.s: don't say she'll get a bald spot or something, cuz she wont. she pulls them out randomly, not from one spot.

Why would she want to thin her hair as so many women and men get envious of someone with healthy thick head of hair. Some even don't mind thick hair with split ends. She could always have her hair thinned out by the salon esp if bottom heavy with thinning shears etc. for whatever reason. Though if you notice when she starts pulling hair out is it e.g. whenever she is stressed, seem like a compulsion, or she gets some mild pleasure out or it. Unfortunately it seems that unless something bad happens or something out there convinces her to stop she may not stop.

Just tell her to get her hair cut. When she gets older she won't have as much hair as reguler people that don't do that=]=]=].

I think that you should talk your her about it. There is a disease like that and I cannot remember what it is. Try searching for it in the Internet... you can suggest that she have a haircut instead. If it really bothers you try consulting a doctor or else give her something else to do instead like makeup sessions or doing fun things together.

This is a bad habit----tell her people will think she is crazy or something if she doesn't stop and that is embarresses you. If she cares what you think, she will stop. She could go to a stylist to get her hair thinned or buy some thinning shears at a beauty supply and do it her self.
