Is it true that wearing hair up a lot can thin it out?

I've heard this a lot, but I wear my hair up frequently, and it doesn't seem to have thinned it out. HOWEVER, a stylist recently commented about me having fine hair, and I always thought my hair was between thick and fine. My hair is a little less coarse in texture than it was in my teens and early 20s when I didn't wear it up as much, but hair does thin a little with age, so I figure it's just aging. Is it true that wearing hair up can contribute to this?

I have heard that this is true, and I believe it myself.

I wouldn't worry too much about wearing your hair up during the day, but you shouldn't wear it up when you go to sleep.

No

Is it true that wearing hair up a lot can thin it out?

that is not true hun i had my hair up everyday in school for about 6/7 years and my hair didnt go thin at all

Is it true that wearing hair up a lot can thin it out?

I've never heard about that but i have heard that if you wear a hair tie to tight that it breaks the hair strands, usually when that happens a lot of hair comes out when you brush it or whe you take a shower. it could make your hair thinner or appear thinner

Is it true that wearing hair up a lot can thin it out?

there is no medical fact to prove that.

Is it true that wearing hair up a lot can thin it out?

it is not an issue of the hair getting thinner it is more of an issue of breakage of the hair for some people. If you were rubber bands or things that are tight around the hair it will weaken the hair shaft and cause the hair to break ususally around the crown of the head or wear a ponytail holder would go hence the illusion of hair becoming thinner, also keep in mind people who wear their hair up frequently do not have their hair exposed to the elements like other people wind sun pollutants all these factor in to the feeling of the hair once damaged by sun or wind the hair feels thick and course if left up and not exposed it is much smoother and less frayed hence once again the illusion of being thinner hope this helps
